Home » Facebook Ads » The #1 Tip to Effortless Facebook Pixel Installation

If you are having problems with installing the Facebook pixel, there’s a plan BEE!

I will go over the purpose of the Facebook pixel, what the Facebook pixel does, controlling the advertising outcome by what cookies are requested, how to install the Facebook pixel, and how to verify the Facebook pixel is working.

The Purpose of the Facebook Pixel

1| Ability to shows ads to the right people.

2| Optimizing ads result in increased sales.

3| Provides data to analyze.

What Does the Facebook Pixel Do?

When a Facebook pixel is on a website, it is remembering what actions took place by a visitor.

These actions include:

The data saved by the Facebook pixel is added to a custom audience for advertisers. Facebook optimizes which people will receive what type of ads according to interests and demographics.

Facebook Pixel and Cookie Settings

Cookies are when you visit a website and a small amount of data is stored. First-party cookies are owned by the website a person is currently viewing and third-party cookies belong to a site other than the website the person is viewing at the time.

The cookies stored can control the advertising outcome. When less cookies are collected, this means there is less data for assessment, reporting, and having the capability to show relevant ads to Facebook users.

You can change your cookie settings for the Facebook pixel in Facebook Business Manager. At Events Manager, click the pixel you want to update, then settings, scroll down to pixel and cookie settings, then edit. To use less cookies, you can update the pixel usage from advertising and analytics to only analytics. You can also turn the first-party cookies off. Ideally, if advertisers want better optimized ads, they will want to store both First- and Third-party cookies.

How to Install the Facebook Pixel

You will need a website and have access to edit the code or have the ability to add a plugin.

You then click how you want to add the Facebook pixel to your website. You either do it yourself, use a partner integration, or email instructions to have someone else install the code. The base code for the Facebook pixel goes on all pages of your website where you want to track activity such as the add-to-cart page where customer’s make a purchase.

1| Manually add the base code yourself

To add the code manually, you place the code in the header in between the header tags.

The #1 tip to effortless Facebook pixel installation is using a plugin.

There are a few plugins that will easily install a Facebook pixel and have free options available to use. As an example, there is no coding required if you use the WordPress plugin, Pixel cat. You just add the plugin and enter your Facebook pixel ID.

2| Partner integration

You can connect an e-commerce or website platform.

3| Email instructions

You can email the pixel code information and instructions to an email address.

After the Facebook pixel is installed, you either add an event code manually or follow the plugin instructions. The event code has to be placed on every web page you want to track activity. Event codes are used to tag key areas that act as critical parts of your sales funnel.

To manually enter the standard event code into your pixel code, it is typed as “fbq(‘track’, ‘AddToCart’);”.  You would replace the action (“AddToCart”) as listed in the example, into the standard event code.

If you are using a plugin such as Pixel Cat, you add the website pages you want to be tracked.

VERIFY THE FACEBOOK PIXEL WORKS

I will be verifying the Facebook pixel through a web browser that supports Chrome extensions.

The Facebook pixel helper is a chrome extension that lights up in the toolbar when a Facebook pixel is currently active and working.

To add the Facebook pixel helper, go to your Chrome web store, type in Facebook pixel helper, and then add extension. Once you bring your website up, you will see the Facebook pixel helper icon in blue if it is working. It will also show the number of pixels in a bright green box in the lower right-hand corner of the icon.

Overview

The #1 tip to effortless Facebook pixel installation is using a pluginthe free plan. It’s as easy as adding the plugin, entering the Pixel ID, and you’re done.

A Facebook pixel is helpful for both advertisers and Facebook users. The ads get shown to people who previously indicated an interest in a specific product or service. Seeing more relevant ads contributes to a user-friendly experience. It’s a win-win, so people see more ads they may like and advertisers show ads to a more appropriate audience.
